EPA awards Hydrova $100,000 Phase I SBIR grant.
The Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program is a highly competitive awards-based program that encourages domestic small businesses to engage in Federal Research/Research and Development (R/R&D) with the potential for commercialization. Established by the Small Business Innovation Development Act of 1982, the SBIR program has a mission to support scientific excellence and technological innovation through the investment of Federal research funds in critical American priorities to build a strong national economy.
The United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is one of 11 federal agencies that participate in the SBIR Program. One of the EPA's 6 key research objectives is to create a Circular Economy as part of a National Recycling Strategy. The EPA’s $100,000 Phase I grant will help Hydrova advance its zero-waste dross recycling technology in order to create a circular economy within the aluminum industry. This work directly aligns with the EPA's core sustainability objectives and will help push forward the country's National Recycling Strategy.
